Creating Safe Environments for
the Young People We Serve

Protecting children and young people is a responsibility shared by every Kiwanian.

Each year, more than 300,000 young people participate in Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) such as K-Kids, Builders Club, and Key Club, with millions more reached through Kiwanis service projects around the world. When young people participate in our programs and activities, their safety and well-being are entrusted to us.

Kiwanis International provides policies, training, and resources to help clubs, districts, and Service Leadership Programs create safe, positive, and secure environments for youth.

Our Commitment to Youth Protection

Protect Youth. Protect Volunteers.
Protect Kiwanis.

Every Kiwanis member who interacts with young people should understand and follow appropriate youth protection practices.

By staying informed, following Kiwanis Youth Protection Guidelines, and completing required training and screening, we can work together to provide an environment where young people can learn, lead, serve, and thrive.

Youth Protection Information

Youth Protection Is Everyone's Responsibility

By staying informed and following Kiwanis Youth Protection Guidelines, we help ensure that every young person participating in Kiwanis programs has a safe and positive experience.

Background Screening

An Important Part of Protecting the Youth We Serve

Kiwanis advisors to sponsored Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) are required to complete a criminal background check conducted and verified through Kiwanis International.
Using a consistent and comprehensive screening process helps protect the young people we serve, as well as Kiwanis members and volunteers.

Who Needs a Background Check?

If you serve as a Kiwanis advisor to a sponsored Service Leadership Program, you are required to complete the Kiwanis International background screening process.

How Do I Complete My Background Check?

Background checks must be completed through your personal Kiwanis.org account.

Important: The background check provided through Kiwanis International is the only background screening accepted for this requirement.

Background Check Fee
$25
