GEORGIA DISTRICT AWARDS
Leadership Medallion
The Governor’s Leadership Medallion is a special recognition for Kiwanians within the Georgia District who have exemplified outstanding leadership skills by strengthening their club, division and/or the district furthering the mission of Kiwanis International. To maintain the integrity of the award, a specified number of awardees are not guaranteed. Clubs may nominate one or more members. Lt. Governors will decide on the semifinalists and submit to the governor. The governor, governor elect and vice governor will decide on the award winners. Clubs will be notified of the winners and every effort should be made to have families of the winners attend the division rally when the award will be given. Submit a nomination. Georgia District Distinguished CLUB Award Honoring Clubs and Lt. Governors for being a distinguished member of the Georgia District. Clubs and Lt Governors will earn points throughout the year. Club and/or Lt. Governor will receive the Georgia District Distinguished Award and a certificate. Distinguished Club Guidelines. Georgia District Distinguished MEMBER Award Honoring Kiwanis Members for being a distinguished member of the Georgia District. A Distinguished Georgia Kiwanian should be one who embodies the spirit of Kiwanis through Leadership, Friendship, and Service. By completing each of the following criteria, the Kiwanian truly demonstrates to others the heart, power, and strength of Georgia Kiwanis as a Distinguished Member. Distinguished Member Guidelines. The Hayden SLP Student Leadership Medallion Award (SLP Medallion) Inaugurated in 2016, this Leadership award has been provided to Kiwanis youth leaders who are members of a sponsored K-Kids, Builders, Key and Circle K Clubs in Georgia. It is in memory of Dr. Mel Hayden who was a Georgia Kiwanis leader for 20 years and actively promoted the spirit of Service Leadership among Kiwanis youth in our communities. Submit an application. Interclub Patch Interclub visits are fun and informative and can lead to enduring friendships. They also give you an opportunity to see what other Clubs are doing, allowing you to adopt those activities that can benefit your Club. Kiwanis International encourages Clubs close to newly chartered Clubs to assist the new Clubs in learning how to conduct business the “Kiwanis Way.” The following rules apply for 2024-25. 1. Certain club members have a natural advantage based upon their role with Kiwanis. Therefore, members who serve as an International Officer, a District Officer, or a Lt. Governor will be ineligible to count towards any interclub for the year. Additionally, any member who is a member of more than one club can only count as an interclub for one of the clubs of which they are a member. There is no double counting. 2. There will be a point system for an interclub. The point system only applies to visits to other Kiwanis Clubs. The points are based on the following:

The Interclub Challenge requirements are that a Club must make a minimum of eight interclub visits to eight different Kiwanis clubs. This applies to Kiwanis Clubs only. 5. Remember to report all interclub visits for the point system (see #2) on the attached interclub report form. We recommend that the form be submitted monthly by the 10th of each month. Overall, the form must be submitted by October 10, 2025. All other interclub information is to be submitted by the club secretary on the club’s monthly report. GEORGIA DISTRICT KIWANIS FOUNDATION AWARD
Henry C. Heinz Award
Honor those individuals who have exhibited outstanding dedication and commitment to helping children. The recipient is honored with the Henry C. Heinz Award medallion, a lapel pin, and a certificate acknowledging the achievement. A donation of $1,000 from an individual, Kiwanis Club, Division, or any other group of Kiwanians is made to the Georgia District Kiwanis Foundation, and the interest is used to help young people of Georgia in the form of scholarships and other financial support. GEORGIA KEY CLUB DISTRICT PROJECT
Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes Banner Patch
It is now more important than ever to ensure that kids around the state are supported through the Key Club District Project - the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes. We are reaching out to Kiwanis Clubs around the Georgia District with a plea to help Key Club meet it’s district goal of $25,000 this year. As a “thank you” to those clubs that support the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, a new banner patch (shown above) has been created and will be sent to each Kiwanis Club that donates at least $250 by January 31, 2020. George F. Hixson Fellowship
Named for Kiwanis International’s first president, Hixson Fellowships are awarded to donors who give US$1,000 or more to the Children's Fund.* It’s a way of recognizing people who have contributed significantly to Kiwanis’ history of generosity. Consider making a gift today toward a George F. Hixson Fellowship for yourself or to honor someone else with one. Kiwanis Leadership Society For a gift of US$250 you can honor someone with induction into the Kiwanis Leadership Society—someone who has made an impact in the lives of children around the world. It's a great way to recognize an individual's contribution to improving children's lives. Ruby K Award
Honor Kiwanians who invite five or more new members during their Kiwanis career with a Ruby K Award, free of charge. Ruby K pins recognize members for inviting new members — from five to 100 people. (Further Ruby K awards are given for multiples of 25 over 100.) The award is cumulative, so previous recipients are eligible for a new Ruby K when they invite additional members. Distinguished District and Clubs Kiwanis International gives “distinguished” awards to Kiwanis Districts and Clubs that meet established criteria that demonstrate special dedication to service, membership growth, and Kiwanis education. Submit an application. Life membership Thank a member who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to The Objects of Kiwanis and mission of Kiwanis International with life member status. A gold-tone membership card, desktop award, distinctive lapel pin and lifelong exemption from Kiwanis International dues are some of the ways life members are honored. Learn more. Legion of Honor Honor members who have served in Kiwanis for 25 years or more with the Legion of Honor award. They deserve recognition for helping to make Kiwanis the great organization it is today. Certificates signed by the Kiwanis International president and executive director, as well as lapel pins that reflect the highest office held by the honoree, are available for presentation. Purchase Legion of Honor awards. Robert P. Connelly Medal of Heroism The Robert P. Connelly Medal of Heroism is awarded to an individual who has risked or given his or her life to save someone else. The medal has honored more than 600 individuals, each of whom has exemplified the supreme sacrifice given by Connelly — a Kiwanis member who died in an attempt to save a woman's life. Potential recipients are nominated by Kiwanis clubs within one year of their heroic acts. Robert P. Connelly, 34, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lisle, Illinois, lost his life on September 23, 1966, as he attempted to rescue a woman who had fallen into the path of a passenger train. Both died in the accident. The Robert P. Connelly Medal of Heroism was created during the 1967 Kiwanis International convention.
