What is Kiwanis International?

Picture
Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Local clubs look out for our communities, and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as disease and poverty. We are generous with our time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way.
With our network of over 600,000 members in Kiwanis and our Service Leadership Programs, we can truly change the world. We believe that Kids Need Kiwanis, so we serve children in any way we can, from food insecurity to improving literacy to raising money.

The Georgia District

The Georgia District of Kiwanis International was established in 1919.  The three clubs in the District at that time were Atlanta, Columbus, and Rome.  Over 100 years later, the Georgia District has grown to 18 divisions with more than 140 clubs active within communities throughout the state of Georgia.

Our members are in every corner of the Georgia District and are committed to developing future generations of leaders through guidance and example. They are ordinary people performing extraordinary work within the community every day. Whether revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth sports programs, tutoring others, building playgrounds, and/or being examples for others to follow, Georgia Kiwanians continue to make a difference by willingly performing countless projects to help develop the children within our communities to become the future leaders of tomorrow.

Working together, Kiwanians can achieve so much more than one can accomplish alone. Great things happen when children are given opportunities to learn, experience, and succeed! As Kiwanians, we see this everyday through our service projects.

If you would like to participate in a project, become a part of this outstanding organization, or receive further information, please contact us below! We’ll be happy to help you find a club in your area of the state that meets your needs.

Join Kiwanis!

Ready to help children and families in your community? Ready to change the world? Kiwanis is ready for you! Reach out to a Kiwanis club in your community and let them know you’d like to join. Contact a club member or officer. Let them know you’d like to learn more about Kiwanis.
Try these tips for contacting a local Kiwanis club:
  • Find a club. Locate a Kiwanis club in your area. Choose up to three club locations near you to receive a personal guest invitation.
  • Visit a club. Ask about visiting a Kiwanis meeting—or offer to speak at a meeting. It’s an excellent way to learn about Kiwanis, make contacts and let Kiwanis members know more about you.
  • Call. If you need help getting in touch with a Kiwanis club, give Georgia Kiwanis a call at 478-474-6169.
  • Explore Kiwanis culture. Kiwanis clubs are volunteer-based. Traditionally, club meetings take place once a week and offer an atmosphere of fun, learning and fellowship. Kiwanis members typically volunteer each month to assist with club service projects. In a typical year, Kiwanis clubs worldwide organize more than 150,000 service projects—both locally and globally—and Kiwanis members dedicate more than 12 million hours of service.
  • Get involved. New members bring fresh energy and ideas to Kiwanis clubs. We invite you to reach out, learn more and get involved. Together, we can change the world, one child and one community at a time.
